    Breathtaking views, but little else

The stunning views from the terrace made each morning a pleasure. The shared kitchen fostered a warm and communal atmosphere, allowing us to meet fellow travelers and share stories.

However, the initial challenges with hot water and an unexpectedly small breakfast left us feeling a bit disappointed. Getting to the hotel involved a tough uphill trek, which wasn’t ideal after a long day of hiking.

    breathtaking views
    spacious layout
    communal kitchen
    language barrier

Staying at Ferme Ithurburia offered incredible views over the valley of St Jean Pied du Port. The converted barn apartment had a spacious layout with two lofts and comfy double beds. The outdoor picnic area and large grassy spots were perfect for relaxing. I loved the shared kitchen—having the ability to cook and enjoy meals together created a welcoming environment. The breakfast, while good, could have offered a bit more variety than just coffee and bread. The elderly ladies were a bit grumpy, and language barrier issues did arise at times since no one spoke English. Overall, the scenery and spacious family room made our stay special despite a few hiccups.

Our stay was lovely with breathtaking views of the valley. Dinner was a highlight for the whole family, featuring local ingredients that made every bite memorable. Plus, the rustic charm of our cottage provided a cozy space for everyone to relax and enjoy together.

My wife says that the uphill trek was a bit much for the kids.

    gorgeous views
    communal dining
    steep access
    far location
    limited amenities

Incredible panoramic views from the balcony complemented the spacious family room with a functional kitchen and cozy living area. Shared meals at the big table created a warm, communal atmosphere, with hearty dishes showcasing local produce, including delicious apple tart for dessert. Although the steep hill access was challenging and the location a bit far from the nearest town, the serene environment and friendly hospitality made up for it.

    amazing view

    Perfect for couples seeking romance

The amazing views from the terrace were like something out of a dream. Dinner was pure magic, I mean, it's not often you sit at a large table with strangers, sharing delicious local food while sipping wine and laughing over language barriers.

It wasn't exactly cheap, but for what we got, I’d say it was worth it.
